FAQ
Straight answers to the first ten questions.
If a promise is not operationally established — hours, 24/7 coverage, certifications — we will not invent it here.
Do you come to the house, or do I bring the computer in?+−
Both, when the job needs it. A lot of virus and software work can start remotely. Hardware, cabling, and machines that will not stay on still need to be in hand in the Houston service area.
Is this a managed IT company?+−
No. TLC Computer Help is computer repair, break-fix, virus removal, upgrades, home and small-office networking, and training. If you need an outsourced IT department, we will say so instead of stretching this practice past it.
Can you save my files if the computer will not start?+−
Often, if the drive is still readable. We check that before a wipe or a replacement conversation.
Do you work on Macs?+−
Most of the work is Windows PCs and laptops. Ask first on a Mac job — we will tell you if it is a fit or if you need a different shop.
Will virus removal erase everything?+−
Not by default. We clean first and keep documents when the system can be trusted. A reset is a last step we discuss before we do it.
Can you help with Wi-Fi and printers?+−
Yes, for homes and small offices. That is basic networking — dead zones, a printer that dropped off, a router nobody can log into — not a campus redesign.
Do you offer training?+−
Yes. One-to-one, on your computer, for the tasks you brought. It is not a class and it is not a certificate.
What parts of Houston do you serve?+−
Houston is the home market. The public service-area details and any neighborhood focus are listed on the Service Areas page — we do not invent a coverage map.

Use the short form. If this is an active outage, say so. Existing clients should use Client Support.
